DM directs Hotel owners to obtain ID Proof from visitors

Chandigarh, UT District Magistrate, Brijendra Singh, under Section 144 of the Cr. PC, has directed to the owners of the Hotels, Restaurants, Guest House and Sarai to obtain ID proof from the visitors, who stay in their premises.
The decision has been taken keeping in view of the input received from intelligence agencies and in the interest of safety and security of the general public in the UT, Chandigarh.
DM has directed to prohibit the stay of unknown person whose identity has not been established in their premises. The owners will have to maintain a register for identity of the visitor and make an entry in the handwriting of the visitor mentioning their name, address, telephone number and identity proof along with signature in the register. The identity of the visitor shall be established through identity card, voter card, ration card, driving license, passport and photo credit card. The order will be effective for a period of 60 days from June 10 to August 8, 2010.
